Kevin McManaman

Kevin McManaman will begin his second year as an assistant coach on the Cleveland State sidelines during the 2017-18 season, bringing with him over 20 years of coaching experience.

Prior to joining the Vikings, McManaman served as a national evaluator for Blue Star Recruiting, and was an assistant coach for the girl’s junior varsity and varsity basketball teams at Lyons Township High School.

McManaman also brings with him a wealth of collegiate coaching experience, most recently at Northern Illinois, where he spent three seasons as an assistant coach. During his tenure with the Huskies, McManaman helped coach a first-team All-MAC honoree in Amanda Corral, while Kelly Smith garnered All-Freshman team accolades under his guidance.

Before NIU, McManaman spent two years at Milwaukee, serving as an assistant coach and co-recruiting coordinator. In just two seasons with the Panthers, McManaman had three players earn All-Newcomer Team honors, including Angela Rodriguez who was named the 2010-11 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year. Along with his recruiting responsibilities, McManaman also assisted with on-floor coaching and post player skill development – where he mentored Lindsay Laur to First Team All-League accolades.

Prior to spending one year on the sidelines at Dominican University, McManaman had a nine-year tenure at UIC where he was an integral part of the Flames’ ascension to the top of the Horizon League. While McManaman was an assistant coach at UIC, the Flames earned a postseason berth for the first time in program history, playing in the WNIT during the 2006-07 season. Under McManaman’s guidance, 13 players earned All-League honors at UIC, while five Flames were named to the All-Newcomer team during his tenure.

McManaman got his start at the Division I level during the 2000-01 season, when he was on the Marquette sideline as an assistant coach.

McManaman’s first collegiate coaching opportunity came at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, where he was an assistant women’s basketball coach and assistant softball coach. During his three-year tenure with the Cardinal softball team, McManaman was an integral part of the 2000 Division III National Championship softball team.

A native of LaGrange, Ill., McManaman earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 1992, and earned his master’s in sport administration from UW-La Crosse in 1999.
