CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball head coach Chris Kielsmeier announced the addition of Emily Taylor to the Viking coaching staff, as Taylor will serve as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
Taylor comes to Cleveland State with seven years of coaching experience, with stints at John Carroll and Merrimack College.
"We are incredibly excited to add Emily to our staff, her experience and love for the Cleveland area will be a great addition as we continue to elevate our program on and off the court," Kielsmeier said. "With a wealth of experience in a variety of areas, Emily will be able to contribute to our program in multiple ways as we continue to strive for championships, while also sharing her love for the city of Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio area. Emily is thrilled to be a Viking, and we can't wait for her to get started!"
Taylor spent the last four seasons at Merrimack, elevating the program in each of the last four years. Primarily overseeing the guard development, Taylor helped four Warriors earn All-NEC accolades, while helping the team reach back-to-back NEC Tournament appearances in the last two years.
Prior to her time at Merrimack, Taylor was an assistant coach at John Carroll for three seasons, helping the Blue Streaks capture the program's first-ever OAC Tournament Championship during the 2018-19 season. In addition, Taylor coached two OAC Players and Defensive Players of the Year, while helping the team to a pair of 20-win seasons.
In addition to her on-court duties, Taylor has also assisted with recruiting, operations, community service, fundraising, and academics at both John Carroll and Merrimack.
A Northeast Ohio native, Taylor played collegiately at Walsh and John Carroll, helping the Blue Streaks to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances while ranking in the JCU Career Record Book in three-pointers made and assists.
