Women’s Basketball Enters 2021 #HLWBB Tournament As No. 6 Seed

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After closing out the 2020-21 regular season at Youngstown State this weekend, the Cleveland State women's basketball team has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming 2021 Horizon League Basketball Championship.

2021 HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

The sixth-seeded Vikings will open tournament play with a First Round contest against No. 11 UIC on Thursday, February 25. Game time inside the Wolstein Center is to be determined. 

This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season, as they were not scheduled to face each other during regular season play. Entering Thursday's contest, the Vikings have won nine straight games against the Flames over the last five seasons. 

Cleveland State will be playing on its home court in #HLWBB tournament play for the second straight season, as the Vikings will be one of three teams to host a First Round contest.

The Vikings enter Thursday's game with a 9-8 overall record, including an even 8-8 mark in Horizon League action. Cleveland State has won seven of its last eight games, including a seven-game winstreak dating from January 23 to February 19.

The winner of Thursday's First round contest will advance to the Quarterfinals on Tuesday, March 2, while the Semifinals will be held on Monday, March 8 and the Championship will take place on Tuesday, March 9.
