Dumas Double-Double Leads Vikings To 68-53 Victory Over Oakland

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State women's basketball senior Nadia Dumas finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, leading the Vikings to a 68-53 victory over Oakland on Saturday. With the win, the Vikings are now 5-7 on the year.

The Game
After holding a slim one-point lead at halftime, 27-26, the Vikings were able to quickly extend their lead over the opening minutes of the third quarter, as they went on a 6-2 run to gain a 33-28 advantage. Cleveland State then added to its lead on the next few possessions, as four straight points from Mariah White gave the Vikings a 37-28 lead with 5:54 left on the clock.

The Vikings were able to hold their advantage throughout the rest of the frame, and even extended their lead to double-digits on a Nadia Dumas layup at the 47-36 mark, before ending the third quarter with a nine-point lead at 49-40.

Cleveland State then opened the final 10 minutes of action by posting an 11-4 run, which was capped off by a Destiny Leo three-pointer at the 5:20 mark to put the score at 62-46 Vikings. Although an Oakland basket on their next possession stopped the CSU scoring run, the Vikings responded with an Aminata Ly layup and Leo three-pointer to gain a 19-point advantage at 65-46.

The Vikings then controlled the final four minutes of play, coming away with the 68-53 victory to earn the weekend sweep of Oakland.
