Vikings Fall At Northern Kentucky, 74-55

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team closed out its regular season road schedule Sunday afternoon, dropping a 74-55 contest at Northern Kentucky. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 10-18 overall this season and 7-10 in Horizon League action.

· Savanna Crockett led three players in double figures, finishing with 12 points, while Rachel Slaney and Mariah Miller both posted 10 points.

The Game
After trailing by as many as 21 during the first half, Cleveland State was able to close the second quarter on a 6-0 run over the final 48 seconds, putting the score at 32-17 heading into the halftime break. The Vikings then extended their run to 11-0 after the first two minutes of the third quarter, as a strong Viking defense held the Norse scoreless during this span to cut the deficit to 10 points at 32-22.

Although NKU was able to get on the board at the 7:30 mark, the Vikings responded with a Mariah Miller layup and Rachel Slaney three-pointer on their next two possessions, to close the gap to single digits at 34-27 with 6:36 left on the clock.

Northern Kentucky was able to once again extend its lead to double-digits over the next few plays, but another 7-1 run from Cleveland State brought the Vikings back within single-digits at 41-34 with just over two minutes left in the period. The Norse closed out the quarter on an 8-2 run though, taking a 49-36 advantage into the final 10 minutes of action.

NKU was then able to hold its double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter, as the Norse pulled away with the 74-55 victory.
