Miller Notches Double-Double As Vikings Fall At YSU, 73-55

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team wrapped up the first half of Horizon League play Saturday afternoon, dropping a 73-55 contest at Youngstown State. With the loss, the Vikings now stand at 7-13 overall and 4-5 in Horizon League play.

The Game
During the opening quarter the Vikings got down early – trailing 12-0 after the first 3:18 – and then headed into the second period trailing 24-11.

The Vikings started to work their way back into the game over the opening minutes of the second quarter with back-to-back baskets from Savanna Crockett and Mariah White, but the Penguins responded with an 8-2 run that extended their lead to 34-17 midway through the period.

After coming out of the halftime break with the score at 44-27 YSU, the Vikings were able to match the Penguins throughout the third and fourth quarters, including going on a 6-0 run midway through the final 10 minutes to put the score at 66-50 YSU. During this stretch, the Vikings got points from Mariah Miller, White and Crockett.

Cleveland State's late push proved to be too late though, as Youngstown State held a double-digit lead for the final 20 minutes of action, pulling away with the 73-55 victory.
