Women’s Basketball Enters 2018 #HLWBB Tournament As No. 6 Seed

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following an 11-7 season in Horizon League regular season play, the Cleveland State women's basketball team has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming 2018 Little Caesars Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.

2018 HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT BRACKET

The sixth-seeded Vikings (19-10, 11-7) will open tournament play with a Second Round contest against No. 3 Wright State (21-9, 12-6) on Sunday, March 4 at 12:00 p.m.

During regular season play, the Vikings went 2-0 against the Raiders, picking up a 71-70 overtime victory in the first meeting, and then earning a 70-63 victory in the second matchup. All-time, Cleveland State owns a slight 37-35 advantage in the overall series against Wright State.

Under head coach Kate Peterson Abiad the Vikings on an 11-12 record in the Horizon League Tournament, advancing to the semifinals five times and earning an appearance in the championship game twice. Cleveland State won the Horizon League Tournament title in both of its championship appearances, capturing the crown during the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons.

For the second straight year, the Horizon League men's and women's basketball tournaments will run concurrently, with 'Motor City Madness' being held at the brand new state-of-the-art Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The five-day tournament will run from Friday, March 2 through Tuesday, March 6, with 18 combined men's and women's games carried on the ESPN network.
