Vikings Fall To IUPUI, 77-64

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team dropped its first Horizon League contest of the season Thursday evening, falling to IUPUI, 77-64. The Vikings now stand at 10-4 overall this season and 2-1 in league play.

Game Stats
· Four Vikings finished the game in double-figures, led by Ashanti Abshaw with 21 points.
·The trio of Olivia Voskuhl, Khayla Livingston and Jade Ely all finished with 12 points.

The Game
After a back-and-forth first half, Cleveland State was able to record the final two baskets of the second quarter on an Olivia Voskuhl jumper and a Mariah Miller layup to take a slight 35-32 advantage into the halftime break. During the first half there were eight lead changes between the two teams, and three tied scores.

To start the third quarter, IUPUI went on a 4-0 run, before the Vikings finally got on the board with an Ashanti Abshaw free throw to tie the contest at 36-36 with 6:38 left in the frame. The Jaguars then went on an 8-4 scoring run to regain the lead, and went on to hold the advantage for the rest of the contest.

The Vikings were able to work their way back into the contest throughout the final minutes of the third quarter, including closing the gap to four points following a pair of Jade Ely free throws, but the Jaguars went into the final 10 minutes of action with a 53-47 lead.

The two teams traded baskets over the first part of the fourth quarter, until a 9-0 run gave IUPUI a double-digit lead at 68-54 with 4:19 left to play. The Jaguars then controlled play throughout the remainder of the contest, and went away with the 77-64 victory.

· With four blocked shots against IUPUI, Shadae Bosley is now in fourth place by herself in the CSU Career Record Book with 122 total blocks.
· After posting 21 points against IUPUI, Ashanti Abshaw moved into 10th place in the CSU Career Record Book with 1,323 total points.
· Following her six-rebound performance against IUPUI, Olivia Voskuhl now ranks 18th in the CSU Career Record Book with 552 total boards.
