Vikings Extend Winstreak; Pick Up 75-50 Victory Over Detroit Mercy

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Behind a pair of 20-point performances from Khayla Livingston and Olivia Voskuhl, the Cleveland State women's basketball team remained undefeated in Horizon League play Saturday, picking up a 75-50 victory over Detroit Mercy. The Vikings improved to 10-3 overall this season and stand at 2-0 in league action.

· Khayla Livingston and Olivia Voskuhl led the Viking offense, Livingston with 26 points and Voskuhl with 21 points.
· Rachel Slaney added 11 points for the Vikings.

The Game
Cleveland State was able to get out to a quick start during the opening quarter, as the Vikings opened with a 10-1 advantage – with all 10 points coming from Olivia Voskuhl. After a pair of Detroit Mercy baskets, Voskuhl stopped the run with another layup which then led to a 7-0 run for the Vikings as they gained a 17-6 lead with 2:26 left in the frame. Cleveland State then closed the frame with a 10-point advantage, taking a 22-12 lead into the second quarter.

The Vikings then opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run, extending their lead to 32-12 over the first part of the frame. The Cleveland State defense held the Titans off the board until the 2:32 mark of the quarter, and outscored Detroit Mercy 17-8 during the frame, taking a 39-20 lead into the halftime break.

Detroit Mercy was able to work its way back into the contest during the first part of the third quarter, closing the gap to just nine points at 43-34 following a 14-4 run. A Livingston three-pointer at the 4:09 mark put a stop to the Titan run though, and put Cleveland State back up by double-digits at 46-34. The Vikings then closed the quarter on a 12-2 run, taking a 58-36 advantage into the final 10 minutes of play.

During the final quarter the Vikings were able to hold a 20-point advantage during the majority of the frame, as Cleveland State picked up the 75-50 victory.

CSU Career Record Book
· Shadae Bosley moved into fourth place in the CSU Career Record Book with 118 blocked shots, after posting one block against Detroit Mercy.
· With seven points against the Titans, Ashanti Abshaw became the 11th Viking all-time to surpass 1,300 career points, ending with 1,302.
· Olivia Voskuhl moved into eighth place in the CSU Career Record Book with 422 defensive rebounds, after posting four against Detroit Mercy.
· Following her 26-point effort against the Titans, Khayla Livingston cracked the top-20 in scoring in the CSU Career Record Book, finishing the game ranked 20th with 1,137 total points.
