Vikings Fall To League-Leader Wright State, 65-60

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team returned to the Wolstein Center to begin a four-game homestand Thursday evening, falling to Horizon League-leader Wright State, 65-60. The Vikings now stand at 12-14 overall this season and 7-8 in league play.

Game Stats
· Three Vikings finished the game in double-figures, led by Khayla Livingston with 14 points.
· Ashanti Abshaw added 13 points and Chrishna Butler tallied 11 points.
· Ashanti Abshaw grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds on the game, while Olivia Voskuhl added seven boards.
· Khayla Livingston tallied seven assists on the game, while Jade Ely added four helpers.
· Shadae Bosley recorded two blocked shots, while Ashanti Abshaw and Chrishna Butler both added one block.

Game Notes
· With her 13 points, Ashanti Abshaw finished the game with 992 points, just eight points shy of the 1,000-point milestone.
· Ashanti Abshaw notched her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Wright State.
· Chrishna Butler recorded her second double-digit game of the season with her 11 points against Wright State.
· With her two blocked shots, Shadae Bosley now has 80 blocks on her career, one of just eight Vikings all-time to reach the plateau.
· Thursday's game marked the fourth doubleheader date for the men's and women's basketball teams this season, with the women now owning a 3-1 record in twinbills this year.

The Game
Despite holding an 11-point advantage at one point during the first half, Cleveland State held just a one-point lead at the halftime break, starting the third quarter with a 29-28 advantage.

Cleveland State was able to extend their lead over the opening minutes of the third frame then, as the Vikings went on a 6-2 run to gain a 35-30 advantage at the 5:27 mark. During this span, Shadae Bosley was responsible for four of the six points, while Ashanti Abshaw chipped in the other basket. Although the Raiders were able to close the gap to one point multiple times throughout the final minutes of the third quarter, Cleveland State remained in control of the game and went into the final 10 minutes of play with a 44-43 lead.

To open the fourth quarter Chrishna Butler knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, giving the Vikings a seven-point lead at 50-43 with 9:17 left on the clock. Wright State responded with 10 straight points though, gaining its first lead since the opening minutes of the first quarter at 53-50. A three-pointer from Abshaw knotted the game at 53-53, but another run from the Raiders put Wright State back on top, 59-53 with just over three minutes left to play.

This would be a lead that Wright State would hold for the rest of the game then, as the Raiders held at least a three-point advantage for the rest of the game, coming away with the 65-60 victory.
