Vikings Fall in Home Opener to Toledo

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team dropped its 2016-17 home opener, 92-59, to Toledo on Saturday afternoon in the Wolstein Center. The Vikings fell to 1-2 this year, while Toledo improved to 3-0.

Game Stats
· Nicolete Newman scored 15 points to lead the Vikings. She hit 3-of-6 from three-point and made all six of her free throws. She also added three steals.
· Olivia Voskuhl scored nine points with five rebounds, while Chrisha Butler scored eight points and grabbed three rebounds.
· Mariah Miller grabbed 10 rebounds and Khayla Livingston finished with six points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Game
Toledo scored the first seven points of the game to take a 7-0 lead. CSU began to chip away and pulled within four points (16-12) on a Voskuhl three-pointer with 2:14 left in the quarter. However, the Rockets scored the final eight points of the quarter to take a 24-12 lead after 10 minutes.

Both teams scored 13 points in the second quarter as Toledo went into the locker room with a 37-25 lead. The Rockets opened the third quarter on a 12-5 run to take a 49-29 lead three minutes into the quarter en route to the win.
