Vikings Drop First League Contest To Green Bay

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's basketball team's Horizon League win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon, as they fell to Green Bay, 90-72. The Vikings now stand at 8-9 overall and 3-1 in league play.

The Vikings, who shot 46-percent from the floor today (24-for-52), had three players score in double-figures led by Imani Gordon with 19. Khayla Livingston eclipsed her career-high against the Phoenix posting 18 points on a 7-for-10 performance from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 performance from three-point, while Cori Coleman chipped in 11 points.

Green Bay was able to get out to a quick double-digit lead through the opening minutes of the first half, and went into halftime leading 46-34.

At the start of the second half the Vikings came out strong, going on a 10-4 run, closing the gap to six points (50-44) and forced a Green Bay timeout with 17:33 remaining. During this stretch the Vikings got seven points from Haley Schmitt, including a pair of three-pointers. The Phoenix came out of the timeout on an 11-0 run of their own though, extending their lead back to double-digits at 61-44 with just over 14 minutes left to play.

Green Bay was then able to hold a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, including their largest lead of 20 multiple times. For the contest, Green Bay shot 54-percent from the floor (30-for-55) and 43-percent from three-point (10-for-23). The Phoenix also held the advantage in rebounding, 39-19 over the Vikings.

Cleveland State will now close out its three-game homestand next Thursday (Jan. 23), hosting Oakland in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
