INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cleveland State women's basketball player Cori Coleman has been selected to the Horizon League Preseason Second Team – as announced by the league this afternoon (Monday, Oct. 28). The preseason teams and preseason poll is voted on by the league's nine head coaches, sports information directors and media members.
Coleman's nomination to the Preseason Second Team marks her first honor from the Horizon League, and the eighth straight year that a Viking has been named to a preseason team.
Last year, Coleman ranked second on the team averaging 12.5 points per game and led the Vikings with a .428 field goal percentage (137-320). The junior guard also led CSU with a .365 three-point field goal percentage (54-148) and averaged 4.1 rebounds per contest, 2.0 assists per contest and 1.8 steals per contest.
Among Horizon League returners, Coleman finished the 2012-13 campaign ranked third in field goal percentage (.428) and steals (1.8), fifth in scoring (12.5), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.365) and seventh in three-point field goals made (1.8).

The Horizon League also released the 2013-14 Preseason Poll Monday, with the Vikings selected to finish seventh. Green Bay was the preseason favorite, earning 21 first-place votes, while Wright State was selected to finish second and Youngstown State was slated to finish third. Rounding out the top-five teams were UIC (4th) and Milwaukee (5th). Along with the Phoenix, UIC (3), Wright State (1), and Detroit (1) also earned first-place votes.
The Vikings return six letterwinners from last season's squad, including the junior trio of Coleman, Kiersten Green and Imani Gordon. This trio combined for 86 starts during the 2012-13 campaign and accounted for 45-percent of CSU's offense. Joining the junior class will be senior Haley Schmitt (5.2 ppg/3.1 rpg), sophomores Adesuwa Aideyman (0.7 ppg/0.5 apg) and Allison Mitchell (0.2 ppg/0.2 rpg), and freshmen Chrishna Butler, Khayla Livingston, Brooke Smith and Olivia Voskuhl.
