CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Cleveland State's Ben Willeford picked up a win at 125 pounds in the Vikings 37-3 loss to host Tennessee-Chattanooga on Sunday (Jan. 8) afternoon.
CSU dropped four matches by three points or less to fall to 3-7 on the year. The Mocs improved to 4-3.
Willeford edged Blake Thomas on a 4-2 decision to improve to 12-10 and 4-6 in dual meets this season.
Nick Flannery, fresh off a seventh place finish at Tennessee-Chattanooga's Southern Scuffle last weekend, lost on a 12-9 count to UTC's Nick Soto, the runner-up at the Scuffle and 14th ranked wrestler in the nation according to InterMatWrestle.com.
Brandon Sommers, wrestling in his first match of the season, was edged 4-2 by Dan Waddell at 157 pounds.
Corey Carlo lost on a 2-0 decision at 165 pounds and Corbin Boone (184) fell 3-1 in an extra period.
The Vikings are back in action on Monday (Jan. 9) when they take on Appalachian State at 3:30 and Campbell at 5:15 in Campbell, N.C. Video of Monday's matches will be available on BigSouthSports.com.
