Cleveland State Wrestling Concluded Dual Schedule on Saturday

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Cleveland State dropped both of their matches on Saturday in Lawrenceville, N.J. In match one, Rider won 25-9, which was the final MAC match, and then in the second match, Drexel won 27-15.

The Vikings conclude the 2022-23 dual season with a 7-8 overall record and a 6-4 mark in MAC matches. Cleveland State will now prepare for the MAC Championships on March 3-4 at George Mason.

Match 1: Cleveland State 9, Rider 25
The Broncs claimed the first four matches of the day to lead 13-0. No. 32 Marcus Robinson got the Green and White on the board with a 6-4 decision at 157-pounds to trail 13-3. Daniel Patten followed with a 9-5 victory at 165-pounds, trimming the deficit to 16-6.

Rider got three points back after picking up an 8-4 decision at 174-pounds to lead 16-6. DeAndre Nassar's sudden victory at 184-pounds brought Cleveland State to within 16-9.

The Broncs claimed the final two matches by decision and fall, winning 25-9, snapping the Vikings four-match winning streak.

Match 2: Cleveland State 15, Drexel 27
The Green and White claimed the first three points after Nick Molchak recorded a 5-4 decision at 125-pounds. Drexel tied the match at three-apiece with a 3-1 overtime victory at 133-pounds.

Caleb Rea put the Vikings back on top with a 3-1 decision at 141-pounds. Drexel then claimed their first lead of the day, 9-6, after picking up a fall at 149-pounds.

No. 32 Robinson retied the match at nine apiece with a 6-1 win at 157-pounds. However, consecutive falls for the Dragons put them back on top, 21-9.

A 3-1 victory for Nassar at 184-pounds brought the Vikings to within 21-12. Drexel then picked up their third fall of the match to lead 27-12.

Daniel Bucknavich ended the day with a 4-0 shutout at 285-pounds, but Cleveland State dropped the match, 27-15.
