Cleveland State to Close 2018 at Lock Haven

Live Results - Lock Haven Classic

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University wrestling team will close 2018 on the final weekend of the calendar year by competing in an event that's new for the program.

CSU heads to the Lock Haven Classic Saturday, Dec. 29. Action is slated to get underway at 9:30 a.m. inside Thomas Fieldhouse, and live results will be available through the link at the top of this article.

This will be the final bracket-style event for the Vikings for over a month as the squad contests six duals in January, five of which are Eastern Wrestling League matchups.

The Vikings will be looking to close a successful month that has seen the squad place six student-athletes at a pair of tournaments and collect a pair of dual wins.

A half dozen Vikings placed last time out when the program hosted the 14th annual Cleveland State Open, the highest such figure for CSU at its own event since 2007. Redshirt freshman Brady Barnett and redshirt sophomore Nico O'Dor placed third at 149 pounds and 157 pounds, respectively, to lead the team. O'Dor and redshirt senior Armando Torres, at 133 pounds, have both placed at each of CSU's events this month.

Torres leads the team with 19 wins on the season, O'Dor follows with 16 while Barnett has 13.

While this is the eighth year that LHU has hosted the event, it is the first time that CSU is competing in it. The event has had seven different team champions over it first seven seasons.

Cleveland State will resume action in the second week of January in a tri-dual featuring Columbia and host George Mason.
