CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State University wrestling team returns to action this weekend by competing in a new event.

CSU will take part in the Cougar Clash Sunday, Dec. 2, with action slated to get underway at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. The tournament hosted by SIUE is a new event on the Cougars' schedule this season. Live scoring and live video ($) will be available through the links at the top of this article.

This event is the second in a stretch that sees CSU spend four of five dates of competition in a tournament format.

Senior John Vaughn led the Vikings last time out by placing at the Navy Classic on the weekend before Thanksgiving. He picked up a major decision win over a foe from American, a pin over an opponent from Campbell and a sudden victory win over an opponent from Kent State en route to his podium finish at 165 pounds. He now owns five wins on the year after missing the season-opening Clarion Open.

Redshirt senior Armando Torres won three matches at 133 pounds at the Navy Classic, including a major decision and a pin, to move his season record to 10-3. Redshirt sophomore Nico O'Dor won a trio of bouts at 157 pounds last time out, including one by fall, and now has eight victories on the season.

In addition to the Vikings and host Cougars, the following schools are expected to send teams to this event: Arizona State, Army West Point, Chattanooga, Kent State and Wisconsin.

Cleveland State will make its home debut next weekend as it returns to dual action. The Vikings will host Otterbein in their home opener Sunday, Dec. 9, before making the short trip to John Carroll later in the afternoon.
