CSU Continues Dual Action at Another Big Ten Venue

CLEVELAND, Ohio – After heading to Ohio State last time out, the Cleveland State University wrestling team will head to another Big Ten arena this weekend to continue dual action.

CSU will be one of four teams taking part in the Hoosier Duals. In addition to host Indiana, Northern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville will be at the event. The Vikings will face the Cougars at 10:00 a.m. and meet the Huskies at 11:30 a.m. before finishing the day with the host school at 1:00 p.m.

Live video coverage of CSU's dual with the host Hoosiers will be available through the Big Ten's BTN Plus platform ($) and on FloWrestling ($). Live results will also be available for CSU's final dual of the day.

After competing in two opens to begin the season, Cleveland State opened dual action last time out as part of the Thanksgiving Throwdown. The Vikings dropped matchups to the host, No. 2 Ohio State, and Kent State to begin their dual campaign.

Redshirt senior Gabe Stark posted a pin over Kent's wins leader entering the event to begin his final collegiate dual season in style. Redshirt freshman Cameron Lathem also garnered his inaugural collegiate dual win in his first event by taking down Ohio State's Brakan Mead, a former Ohio high school state champion.

Stark owns an 8-4 record on the campaign at 174 pounds, all against Division I opposition, including three wins via fall.

Redshirt senior Nick Corba owns a team-high 10 wins on the season, a mark he reached with a dual win over Kent State. He has five bonus-point victories this season at 184 pounds, including three via fall. Junior John Vaughn owns six wins on the season at 165 pounds, including three over Big Ten opponents.

CSU is 8-6 all-time against Indiana in dual action. The Vikings, who lost last season to Indiana at a neutral site, last faced the Hoosiers on the road in November 2013 as part of a tri-dual. Corba picked up his first collegiate dual victory that day with a win over the host school.

The Vikings have yet to defeat the Huskies in six tries, with the most recent meeting on neutral ground occurring in the 2007-08 season. Evan Cheek, Vaughn and Corba picked up wins over NIU in last year's matchup between the two sides in Cleveland.

Cleveland State is 3-0 all-time against SIU Edwardsville, with the lone meeting in the past 25 years occurring during the 2010-11 season. All three matchups between the Vikings and Cougars have taken place on neutral ground, with the most recent one also having taken place at Indiana.

Indiana is off to a 3-1 start in dual action, including a win over fellow EWL member Bloomsburg. Redshirt junior Cole Weaver is ranked amont the top 20 at 141 pounds by Intermat while Devin Skatzka was also listed by a ranking outlet this past week at 174 pounds.

Northern Illinois will be making its 2017-18 dual debut this weekend as it competed in open events on the first three weekends of the season before taking last weekend off. Brit Wilson owns a team-best 11-1 mark at 174 pounds while Brock Hudkins has eight wins and is ranked nationally at 125 pounds.

SIU Edwardsville had three champions at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open to begin the season. The Cougars dropped their lone dual of the season thus far to Drexel and are led by Nate Higgins' 9-1 record at 165 pounds.

After having its first four dates of competition occur away from home, Cleveland State will return home for its next three events, starting on the second weekend of December.
