Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Continues Opening Weekend At Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team continued its opening weekend of dual match play Sunday, dropping a 6-1 match at Ball State.

"Today's match was another building block in our progress for the season, and I was happy to see some of the adjustments that we made from yesterday," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Congrats to Max for picking up his first win of the spring season, and putting a point on the board for us at the top of the lineup. Now we will turn our attention to working on a few things in practice this week, before hitting the road once again for another tough stretch of matches next weekend."

Sunday's match marked the second of seven straight road matches for the Vikings to begin the season.

Cleveland State's lone point of the day came from sophomore Maxime Mareschal-Hay, who picked up his first singles win of the spring season on Sunday, earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Thibault de Negri at the top of the singles lineup.

For the season, Mareschal-Hay now has 10 singles wins, becoming the second Viking to reach double-digit wins this year.

The Vikings will continue the spring season with a pair of matches next weekend, traveling to Xavier on Saturday, January 29 and Butler on Sunday, January 30.
