CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened play at the Viking Invitational Friday, hosting their annual fall tournament for the fifth year.

In singles play, three Vikings advanced to the third round of the Main Singles Draw, with Kade Mindry, Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Clark Bilinovich all picking up wins on the first day. Mindry earned a convincing 6-0, 6-0 victory over Youngstown State's Asier Pena Ibanez, while Mareschal-Hay posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Dayton's Davis Phillips and Bilinovich earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Javi Pla of Youngstown State.

Hugo Chatras and Austin Staiger both picked up wins in the back draw on Friday, Chatras earning a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory over Matt Andrus of Niagara, and Staiger earning a 6-4, 6-3 win over Niagara's Manuel Alonso.

Two Cleveland State doubles teams advanced to the third round of the Main Doubles Draw on Friday, as Bilinovich/JuandeDios Abboud and Mareschal-Hay/Mindry both earned matching 6-3 victories in their opening matches.

Action at the Viking Invitational will continue tomorrow (Saturday, October 30) beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
