CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Midwest Regional Saturday, with four Vikings making an appearance in the Main Singles Draw.

Playing in his first ITA Midwest Regional, sophomore Maxime Mareschal-Hay earned an automatic spot in the Main Singles Draw, and was able to earn a 6-3, 6-0 victory in his first round matchup against Michigan State's Graydon Lair. Mareschal-Hay then dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision against top-seeded Axel Nefve of Notre Dame.

Sophomore transfer Mikael Erler also earned an automatic spot in the Main Singles Draw, but came up short in his first round match, dropping a 6-1, 6-4 decision against Michigan's Ondrej Styler.

After picking up three straight wins in the Qualifying Singles Draw over the last two days, Clark Bilinovich and Kade Mindry also earned spots in the Main Singles Draw. Bilinovich dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision against Wisconsin's Sebastian Vile in his first round match, while Mindry dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match against Yu Zhang of Notre Dame.

"Overall this was a good tournament for us, I'm watching the team develop quickly and we are really starting to find our footing," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "It was great to see Max get a win in the main draw, and I feel like he could come back to regionals next year as a seeded player. Now we will turn our attention to the final tournament of the fall season – and not only our last tournament, but our lone home event of the fall which we are excited for."

Cleveland State will close out its fall schedule next weekend, hosting the annual Viking Invitational in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31.
