Bilinovich & Mindry Advance To Main Singles Draw At ITA Midwest Regional

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had a strong showing on the second day of the ITA Midwest Regional Friday, with Clark Bilinovich and Kade Mindry both advancing to the Main Singles Draw.

Bilinovich and Mindry both picked up their third win over the last 36 hours, earning two of eight qualifying spots in the Main Singles Draw.

Bilinovich posted a third round win over Michigan State's Jarreau Campbell (6-2, 7-5), while Mindry earned a 7-6(4), 6-3 victory over No. 5 seed Krzystof Wetoszka of Toledo.

With his win against Michigan State, Bilinovich now has 53 career singles wins and is just one win shy of the top-15 on the CSU Singles Wins List.

"It was exciting to watch Clark and Kade get their singles wins today – it's really difficult to win three matches in a such a short amount of time, and doing it against quality opponents is even harder," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They both looked really good on the court today, and I'm proud of them and their accomplishment of making it into the main draw. As a team, it's a really good showing for us, as we have four people now in the main draw which will make for an exciting Saturday."

Bilinovich and Mindry will now join Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler in the Main Singles Draw, with action beginning tomorrow.

Cleveland State also had three teams in the Main Doubles Draw that began Friday, including the duo of JuandeDios Abboud and Mareschal-Hay who advanced to the third round before bowing out. After picking up a walkover win in the first round, Abboud and Mareschal-Hay picked up an 8-7(4) victory against Notre Dame in the second round, before coming up short against the top-seeded Ohio State tandem.

Action at the ITA Midwest Regional will continue tomorrow with the opening rounds of the Main Singles Draw.
