Mostardi Drops Three-Set Match In #ITAFallNats Opening Round

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Cleveland State men's tennis senior Nico Mostardi began play at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship Wednesday, dropping a hard fought three-set decision in his opening round match.

"Nico's match today had a little bit of everything in it, I was proud of the adjustments that he made from the first set to the second set, and it's unfortunate that we weren't able to get the result we wanted," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I know Nico will reset and give it his all again tomorrow, because in this tournament, no matter who you go up against you have a great opportunity to get a quality win."

In his first round matchup, Mostardi dropped a hard fought 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 three-set decision to Gabriel Ortiz, the 2019 Junior College National Champion from Seward County Community College.
