Terry & Phillips Capture Viking Invitational Doubles Title

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team had another successful day at the Viking Invitational Saturday, highlighted by the duo of Matthew Terry and Luke Phillips capturing the Main Draw Doubles Title.

UPDATED SINGLES & DOUBLES DRAWS

Terry and Phillips went 2-0 on Saturday to earn the doubles crown, picking up a 6-3 win over Binghamton in the semifinals and a 6-2 win over Youngstown State in the championship. The duo finished the weekend with a 4-0 doubles record, as CSU claimed its third straight doubles title at the Viking Invitational.

In the Main Singles Draw, it will be an all Cleveland State final tomorrow, as Terry and Phillips both earned their way into the championship match.

Terry picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win over Binghamton's Dan Pergel in his quarterfinal match, and then posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal of Duquesne in the semifinals.

Phillips was matched up against opponents from Binghamton in both his quarterfinal and semifinal matches, as he earned a 7-6(3), 6-1 win over Dylan Friedman in the quarters, then followed that up with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Tiago Lourenco in the semis.

Clark Bilinovich also picked up a singles win for the Vikings on Saturday, earning a 6-7, 6-1, 1-0(8) victory against Duquesne's Nicolas Doria Medina in consolation play.

Action at the Viking Invitational will wrap up tomorrow (Sunday, November 3), with the final rounds of singles play beginning at 9:00 a.m.
