Men’s Tennis Set For Purdue Fall Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will continue its busy fall schedule this weekend, taking part in the Purdue Fall Invitational. The three-day tournament will run from Friday, October 5 through Sunday, October 7, and will take place at the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Purdue Fall Invitational will be a flighted tournament, with nine flights for singles and four flights for doubles. There will be four rounds of singles and four rounds of doubles throughout the three-day tournament. Cleveland State will be one of 17 teams at the event, including Horizon League opponents IUPUI, Wright State and Green Bay.

Slade On CSU Singles Wins List
Entering the weekend, senior Benjamin Slade is tied for eighth on the CSU Singles Win List, owning 62 career victories after picking up two at the Rocket Invitational last weekend. Slade, who is the only current Viking to be on the CSU Singles Wins List, needs just eight more wins to become the seventh Viking all-time to reach the 70-win mark.

Viking Debuts
The freshman duo of Raul Teichmann and Clark Bilinovich made their Cleveland State debuts at the Rocket Invitational last weekend, appearing in the singles and doubles lineups for the Vikings. Bilinovich finished the tournament with a 1-1 singles mark, while Teichmann went 1-2 in singles play.

2018 Fall Campaign
This marks the third of five weekends during the fall campaign for the Vikings, with Cleveland State also set to participate in the ITA Midwest Regional (Oct. 17-21) and the third annual Viking Invitational (Nov. 2-4).

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
Cleveland State will be under the direction of 17-year head coach Brian Etzkin – the all-time winningest coach in program history. Etzkin has led Cleveland State to all six Horizon League tournament titles in program history, along with all six trips to the NCAA Tournament.
