Mostardi Picks Up Fifth #HLMTEN Singles Player Of The Week Honor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the fifth time this season, Cleveland State men's tennis sophomore Nico Mostardi has been honored by the Horizon League, as he was named the Singles Player of the Week. Mostardi leads all league players with his five weekly honors this season.

Last time out, Mostardi and the Vikings picked up back-to-back 6-1 wins over IUPUI and UIC to clinch a share of the Horizon League Regular Season title, finishing their league slate with a 6-1 record.

Mostardi, who was once again playing at the top of the singles lineup for the Vikings, went 2-0 on the weekend, improving to a team-best 26-7 on the year.

Against IUPUI, Mostardi battled for a 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 victory, while he cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at UIC. Mostardi now stands at 14-3 this spring, and has won six of his last seven matches. In #HLMTEN play, Mostardi finished the regular season with a 6-1 mark – the best record among league players at No. 1 singles.

Earlier this season Mostardi became the fastest Viking all-time to reach 20 wins, while his 26 wins is currently tied for fourth on the CSU Single-Season Wins List.

Mostardi and the Vikings will begin play in the #HLMTEN Tournament on Saturday (April 28), opening the weekend with a semifinal contest against the winner of the No. 3 Youngstown State/No. 6 Wright State first round match.
