INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team picked up another weekly honor from the Horizon League Tuesday afternoon, as Matthew Terry and Mirko Radosevic were named the Doubles Team of the Week. This marks the second time this season that a Cleveland State doubles team has been honored by the league.
"Matthew and Mirko are a new team playing together, and they compliment each other very well on the court," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They could be a lethal combination for us down the stretch and they have the possibility to give us some big doubles points in crucial league matches later this spring."
Last week the Vikings played a pair of matches against Barry and Palm Beach Atlantic during their annual Spring Break Trip, as Cleveland State now enters Horizon League play with a 9-8 overall record this spring.
Playing in just their second doubles match as a tandem, Radosevic and Terry earned an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles against Palm Beach Atlantic, helping the Vikings pick up two of the three doubles points against the Sailfish.
For his career, Radosevic now has 58 career doubles wins and is just one win shy of earning a spot in the top-10 on the CSU Doubles Wins List. Radosevic, who also has 54 career singles wins, is the 11th Viking all-time to reach the 50-win milestone in both singles and doubles play.
Terry, who owns a 12-8 record in doubles play this season, is picking up his second weekly honor from the league, as he also picked up doubles team accolades with Nico Mostardi earlier this spring.
The Vikings will open Horizon League play on Saturday, March 24, as they are set to host Green Bay at 2:00 p.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. Earlier this season, Cleveland State was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Horizon League after reaching the championship match of the #HLMTEN Tournament last year.
