Mostardi Picks Up Third Straight #HLMTEN Singles Player Of The Week Honor

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight week Cleveland State men's tennis sophomore Nico Mostardi has been tabbed the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week, after leading the Vikings to a pair of wins over Northern Illinois and Case Western last weekend.

Mostardi and the Vikings improved to 5-2 this spring after picking up a 4-3 victory over Northern Illinois and a 6-1 win over Case Western last Saturday. The Vikings are currently riding a five-match winstreak, and own a perfect 5-0 record when playing in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this year.

Playing at the top of the singles lineup, Mostardi picked up a pair of straight set wins against NIU (7-5, 6-1) and Case Western (6-1, 6-1) last weekend, keeping his record perfect this spring at 6-0. For the season, Mostardi stands at 18-4, marking a team-best and a league-best with his 18 wins.

Dating back to the fall season, Mostardi has now won 11 straight matches, marking the fifth longest singles winstreak over the last 16 seasons. All 18 of his wins during the year have come as straight set victories.

For his career, Mostardi ranks third on the team with 36 career singles wins.

Mostardi and the Vikings will hit the road for a single match this weekend, traveling to Ball State for a 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, February 10.
