Men’s Tennis Favored To Win #HLMTEN Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2018 Horizon League Preseason Men's Tennis Poll was released Friday afternoon (January 19), with the Cleveland State men's tennis team selected to win the #HLMTEN championship.

This marks the sixth year that the Horizon League has released a Preseason Tennis Poll, with Cleveland State favored to win for the first time. It also marks the fifth time out of the six preseason polls that the Vikings were tabbed as a top-two selection.

The preseason poll is voted on by each head coach.

Cleveland State returns five letterwinners for the spring season, including senior Mirko Radosevic. During the fall season, the trio of Nico Mostardi, Matthew Terry and Luke Phillips led the Vikings with double-digit singles wins, while Radosevic recorded his 50th career singles victory.

Head coach Brian Etzkin is in his 16th year at the helm of the Vikings, owning a 217-159 dual match record. Etzkin has guided the Vikings to four Horizon League Regular Season titles, five Horizon League Tournament championships and five trips to the NCAA Tournament.

The Vikings will begin their spring season with a pair of road matches this weekend, traveling to nationally ranked Ohio State on Saturday, January 20 and Notre Dame on Sunday, January 21.
