Buffington & Malm Pick Up Horizon League Doubles Team Of The Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading Cleveland State's doubles efforts on its annual Spring Break Trip last week, the Viking duo of Colton Buffington and William Malm has been named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week.

"We have been looking for a spark in our doubles lineup over the last few weeks, and Colton and William provided that for us in our matches last week," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They picked up a good win at UTSA and they were playing a great match against Rice before it got suspended. Colton and William have been playing as one of our better doubles teams over the last couple weeks, which is hopefully a good sign heading into league play."

Buffington and Malm were the only Cleveland State doubles team to be undefeated during the two-match roadswing through Texas, as they picked up a decisive 6-3 victory at UTSA and were up 5-4 before their match was suspended at Rice.

Last week's matches marked just the second and third matches of the season for the duo, with Buffington and Malm owning a 1-1 doubles record on the Spring.

The Vikings will begin their Horizon League slate this weekend, hosting UIC (Saturday, March 25) and Valparaiso (Sunday, March 26) in the start of a seven-match league schedule.
