Cleveland, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team swept the Horizon League weekly honors for the second time this season, for the period of Jan.11-Jan.17, with sophomore Mark deSwardt earning swimmer of the week honors and sophomore Matt DiMasso named diver of the week.

The league office made the announcement on Monday (Jan. 18).

deSwardt won three individual events as he led the Vikings to dual meet wins over Xavier and Duquesne last Saturday (Jan. 16). He posted winning times in the 200 fly (1:52.50), 500 free (4:35.20) and the 1,000 free (9:30.47).

"Mark trained every single day over the holiday break except for Christmas and New Year's and that is coming through in his races as we get back into competition," head coach Wally Morton said. "He is a very dedicated athlete and he is very deserving of this award and will only continue to do great things as a CSU swimmer."

DiMasso posted two first-place finishes in the dual meets last Saturday (Jan. 16), recording a score of 273.40 in the 1-meter event and a 289.35 on the 3-meter board.

deSwardt earned his third weekly honor of the season and his eighth overall, while DiMasso is honored with his first weekly award. CSU has won swimmer or diver of the week honors eight times this season, the most by any team.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday (Jan. 23) when they travel to Fairborn, Ohio to take on Wright State at 1:00 p.m.
