Cleveland State’s Jackson Nester Set To Swim At U.S. Olympic Team Trials

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State junior Jackson Nester will represent the Vikings at the 2024 U.S. Swimming Olympic Team Trials this week, as he will compete in the 200 Backstroke on Wednesday.

The 200 Backstroke will be held on Wednesday, June 19, with heats set to begin at 11:00 a.m. and semifinals set for 8:00 p.m. The finals of the 200 Backstroke will be held on Thursday, June 20. Fans can follow along with Live Results and Live Video for both days.  

Nester, who is a native of Blacksburg, Virginia, is one of over 1,000 swimmers who have qualified for this year's U.S. Olympic Team Trials. 

In March, Nester posted a qualifying time of 1:59.38 to earn a spot in the field, and enters Wednesday's heats ranked 24th out of 72 swimmers in the event.

This year's U.S. Olympic Team Trials are being held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. It marks the first time the event is being staged on a football field, while it is the seventh time for the Trials to be held in Indianapolis. 

At Cleveland State, Nester is a three-time Horizon League Champion, while also ranking among the top performances in program history in the 200 Backstroke, 200 IM, 500 Freestyle, and 1,650 Freestyle.
