Cleveland State Men's Swimming & Diving in Second After Day One of Magnus Cup

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The men's squad sits second after the first day of the Magnus Cup with 266 points. Xavier is atop the leaderboard with 315 points and Gannon is third with 211.5 points.

Cleveland State opened the night by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Nathen Eberhardt, Kenny Thomas, Josh Merchbaker, and Paddy Johnston finished in 1:21.37.

Spencer Tussing finished as the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle after clocking a 4:29.70. Jackson Nester took seventh after touching in 4:32.11. In the B-final, Jake Taulbee was the top finisher with a time of 4:33.37.

In the 200-yard IM, Reno James (1:51.82) placed fifth and Tyler Schultze (1:53.79) took ninth.

Johnston touched first in the 50-yard freestyle, sprinting to a time of 20.21. Thomas came in eighth with a time of 20.89.
