CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both were named Scholar All-America Teams for the spring semester in an announcement by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Wednesday.

The men's team posted a 3.24 grade point average in spring semester, second among Horizon League schools, while the women's squad was close behind at 3.20.

It is the third consecutive semester in which both programs have claimed Scholar All-America honors. Additionally, the women's program has now earned this award in the spring semester in each of the past five years.

CSCAA Scholar All-Americans Philipp Sikatzki and Tommi Wolst have significantly helped the men's team in the classroom by posting cumulative GPA's of 3.91 and 3.87. Sophomore Curtis Roden and junior Grant Wethington led the way for the Viking men this past spring by each notching a 4.00 GPA during the semester.

On the women's side, CSCAA Scholar All-American Molly McNamara has registered a 3.98 cumulative GPA to help the program's academic cause. Furthermore, sophomore Michaela Bargardi and junior Jamie VanDewerker posted 4.00 GPA's this past spring and own cumulative GPA's of 4.00 and 3.98, respectively.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.
