Sikatzki and Wolst Both Garner Weekly Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Philipp Sikatzki and sophomore Tommi Wolst of the Cleveland State University men's swimming team both earned weekly awards in announcements Tuesday.

Sikatzki was named Men's Swimmer of the Week by the Horizon League while Wolst earned the same honor from CollegeSwimming.

Sikatzki's honor was his third from the League this season and his sixth overall when combining accolades from CollegeSwimming. Wolst's award was his second of the season from CollegeSwimming, and he also claimed one from the League before the turn of the calendar year.

Sikatzki posted NCAA 'B' cut times in winning both of the individual events he entered in this past weekend's dual against Oakland. He finished first in the 100 backstroke in 47.56 seconds and topped the field in the 100 butterfly in 47.63 seconds. Sikatzki also helped the Vikings to 15 points in the relays on which he swam. He swam the lead leg on CSU's winning 200 medley relay, posting a 22.20 split to start the event. Sikatzki also swam the lead leg on the Vikings' top 200 freestyle relay team and stopped the clock in 20.58 seconds on his opening leg.

With his effort last Friday, Sikatzki surpassed the NCAA qualifying standard in the 100 butterfly for the fifth time this season and was under the 100 backstroke cut time for the fourth time this season.

For the second consecutive dual, Wolst won all three individual events he entered and swam on a winning relay. He began his day by swimming the second leg of the 200 medley relay and posted a 25.38 split to help the quartet claim first place. Wolst then won each of his three individual events, two of which he won by more than one second. He was first in the 100 breaststroke (56.38), the 200 backstroke (1:49.28) and the 100 IM (50.15).

Cleveland State will contest its final dual meet of the season and conclude its home schedule this Saturday, Feb. 4, against Buffalo at 2:00 p.m.
