Viking Squads Earn Scholar All-America Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both were named Scholar All-America Teams for the fall semester in an announcement by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Wednesday morning.

The men's team posted a 3.45 grade point average in the fall semester, which ranked eighth in Division I and best in the Horizon League. Four of the seven schools to post higher GPAs than the CSU men hail from the Ivy League.

The Viking women finished with a 3.21 grade point average this past fall. Both programs also claimed Scholar All-America awards after last season's spring semester.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the fall semester.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA—the oldest organization of college coaches in America—is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.

Cleveland State returns to the pool this Friday, Jan. 27, when it hosts Oakland at 5:00 p.m.
