Hamilton, N.Y. – Student-athletes and relays from both the men's and women's teams had first-place finishes as the Cleveland State University swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition in the Colgate Fall Classic Saturday inside Lineberry Natatorium.

The men's team finished in second place in the two-day event with 962 points while the women came in fourth of seven teams with 453 points.

Sophomore Molly McNamara won a pair of events Saturday to highlight the women's team. She took the 100 butterfly in 57.05 seconds, winning the field of 40 participants by a large margin of 1.47 seconds. She also claimed the 100 IM in a pool record time of 1:00.53 to earn a full 20 points. McNamara also scored in the 100 freestyle, which she finished in 55.37 seconds.

McNamara also swam the third leg of the CSU 200 medley relay that closed the meet by tying for first place. She was joined by sophomore Cassandra Oltman, junior Tobie Zeller and junior Jamie VanDewerker, as the quartet finished in 1:49.17.

McNamara and VanDewerker teamed up with senior Anna Evans and sophomore Claudia Zido to finish fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:41.82.

VanDewerker and Zeller each finished fourth in an individual event as well, as the former was fourth in the 100 IM (1:01.66) and the latter was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.71).

Freshman Chuchu Yang was among the top eight in three individual events Saturday, including a third-place showing in the 200 backstroke (2:11.25) and a fourth-place effort in the 100 backstroke (1:00.89).

Senior Tori Taffner took second in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 247.40 points.

On the men's side, senior Philipp Sikatzki and sophomore Tommi Wolst combined to win five individual events, and both were also on two winning relay teams.

Sikatzki won the 100 butterfly in a pool-record time of 48.06 seconds, a mark that was a NCAA B cut time. He also finished first in the 100 backstroke, in a pool-record time of 48.79 seconds, and was first in the 100 freestyle in 45.87 seconds.

Wolst won the 100 IM in a pool-record 51.03 seconds and touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke in 56.49 seconds.

Wolst was the runner-up to Sikatzki in both the 100 fly and the 100 free, while Sikatzki took second to Wolst in the 100 IM.

The German duo combined with freshman DJ Arslanian and senior Declan McLaughlin to post a pool-record time in the 200 medley relay, as they finished in 1:32.66. CSU also took fourth and sixth place with two other relay teams in that race.

The Vikings also won the 400 freestyle relay Saturday as McLaughlin, Sikatzki and Wolst joined senior Robert Tolson to post a time of 3:08.15. CSU's "C" and "B" relays also did well, placing third and fifth.

Arslanian had a trio of top-seven finishes on the second day of his first collegiate meet, including a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:45.33.

In addition to his relay efforts, McLaughlin tallied two top-five showings, including a third-place effort in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.65).

Freshman Tyler Stevenson had a nice showing in his first collegiate meet as posted four top-seven finishes Saturday. His best placements were fourth in both the 200 freestyle (1:45.90) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.66).

Sophomore Curtis Roden placed second in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 222.50.

Cleveland State will take next weekend off before resuming action Friday, Oct. 21, in its first dual meet of the season at St. Bonaventure.
