Swimming & DIving to Host Kids Kicking Cancer Swim Clinic

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will host the 4th Annual Kids Kicking Cancer Swim Clinic in Busbey Natatorium on Saturday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.

The free swimming event will feature CSU head swimming and diving coach Wally Morton, as well as his assistant coaches and members of both squads. Morton is in his 39th year at CSU and has amassed 376 wins during his time with the Vikings.

In addition, Diana Munz, a gold and silver medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, will also be in attendance.

The event features swim skill instruction, demonstrations and games for patients, as well as open swim time and lunch for participants.

Kids Kicking Cancer encourages pediatric and adolescent patients and survivors of cancer and blood disorders to be active and to recognize the health benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Kids Kicking Cancer is made possible due to the generous support of Iris S. Wolstein, in memory of her husband Bert L. Wolstein.

Both CSU swim teams are off to great starts in 2013-14.

The men's squad is 5-4 this year, including a runner-up finish at the CSU Magnus Invitational. The women's team is also 5-4 on the year and was also the runner-up at the CSU Magnus Invitational in November.

The men's team has won double-digit dual meets in 12 straight seasons, while Morton has led the women's team to 70 wins since taking over the program in 2007-08. That includes four straight winning seasons with a school record 15 wins in 2010-11.
