Cleveland State Men's Soccer Heads to Pitt for NCAA First Round Game

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the tenth time in program history, the Cleveland State men's soccer program is headed to the NCAA National Tournament as the Green and White will take on the University of Pitt. in the opening round at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 17.

The Vikings earned the Horizon League's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning the league tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 shutout over third-seeded IUPUI.

Cleveland State is 11-3-5 this season and will face the Panthers for the sixth time in program history. In those matchups, the Panthers hold a slim 3-2-0 advantage including a 4-0 shutout last season at home.

The Panthers are 8-4-5 overall this season with a 6-1-4 record on their home field.

The Vikings are 4-9-0 in postseason play with their most recent trip coming in 2012, falling at Michigan State, 2-1.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the second round on Sunday, November 20 at No. 16 Akron.
