Cleveland State Men's Soccer Adds Hector Gomez

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University head men's soccer coach Sinisa Ubiparipovic announced that Hector Gomez has joined the program for the upcoming season.

Gomez joins the Vikings after spending the past four seasons at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Gomez earned First Team All-America recognition by United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com as a midfielder in 2021. In addition, he earned First Team All-Region, All-Ohio, and All-NCAC accolades. During that season, he led the NCAC in points (31), tied for the lead in goals (12), and was tied for second in assists.

In the 2019 season, Gomez received Third Team All-American honors and his first NCAC Midfielder of the Year recognition. He was also named First Team All-Great Lakes Region and All-NCAC accolades. Gomez ended the year with 11 assists, tied for 20th in NCAA Division III.

During the 2018 year, he was named the NCAC Newcomer of the Year and was Second Team All-NCAC and Third Team All-Ohio honoree.

Gomez attended St. Francis DeSales High School, earning All-America honors, and was named the Division II Player of the Year. He also helped his team win three State Championships and make four State Semifinal appearances.
