THE OPENING KICK
Cleveland State enters Monday's contest winners of two straight games, having taken down Robert Morris (2-0) and Detroit Mercy (3-0).

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The Raiders are coming off a 3-2 overtime victory on the road against Detroit Mercy. The Titans struck first less than three minutes into the contest before Zion Beaton's fifth minute goal tied the contest 1-1. Detroit Mercy took the advantage in the 18th minute to take the lead heading into halftime. Joe Kouadio tallied his first goal of the contest after connecting on a pass from Jared Edmonson in the 48th minute. 90 minutes was not enough as both teams looked to score but headed into overtime. As the final seconds ticked away in the first overtime period, Kouadio tallied his second goal of the contest – a game winner, as he connected on a cross from Harvey Slade in the 100th minute.

The last time these two teams met, the Vikes fell 2-1 at Krenzler Field on Oct. 26, 2019. Despite the loss, Cleveland State recorded 11 more shots (18-7) than Wright State.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cleveland State University men's soccer team used a pair of quick strikes in the opening half along with another strong defensive effort to claim a 3-0 victory over visiting Detroit Mercy on Tuesday afternoon inside the Krenzler Bubble. With the win, the Vikings (2-1-0) vaulted above .500 in Horizon League play and moved to second place in the early-season standings, trailing only UIC (2-0-1). Junior Jannis Schmidt logged a pair of goals while true freshman Bojan Kolevski scored for the second straight match. Goalkeeper Omeed Naeemy picked up his second consecutive clean sheet with four saves, marking the sixth shutout of his career.

#HLMSOC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Vikings have won the league's weekly award in back-to-back weeks, with junior Jannis Schmidt being awarded Nike #HLMSOC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 19 after his two-goal performance against Detroit Mercy, while redshirt sophomore Saahb Kular was named Defensive Player of the Week after propelling the Vikes to their first win of the season against Robert Morris on Feb. 10.

GETTING DEFENSIVE
