Week #11

THE OPENING KICK:
• Cleveland State will play a single match this week as it has its regular-season finale this Friday, Nov. 4, at Milwaukee at 8:00 p.m. ET.
• CSU is 16-26-4 all-time against Milwaukee, as the Vikings have played the Panthers more than any other League foe.
• Although the Vikings trail in the all-time series, they are 3-1-1 against Milwaukee in the last five matches. The teams played 110 minutes without a goal last year, as Cleveland State last beat Milwaukee in 2014.
Dan Koniarczyk and Alec Nagucki scored in that 2014 win, a 3-1 victory in which Hesham Hammouda and Jake Lagania tallied assists.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
• Cleveland State posted a 2-0 victory over Oakland on Senior Night last weekend to get back into the win column. Gianluca DiFranco scored in the 60th minute and Sergio Manesio put the game away with an 85th minute goal.
• Freshman Sebastian Kalk was huge in net, making 10 saves. He was subsequently named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week.

FREE KICKS:
• Head coach Ali Kazemaini announced August 17 that he will step down at the end of this season, his 11th with the Vikings.
• Kazemaini owns 84 wins for CSU, the most in program history.
• Assistant coach Kirk Harwat was named the program's next head coach Oct. 27, a move which will be effective at the conclusion of the 2016 season.
• CSU has been seeded fourth or better in the Horizon League Tournament in each of the past eight seasons, the longest active streak in the League.
• CSU is tied for third in the League table with one match remaining.
• CSU will clinch a playoff berth Friday with a win or tie. If the Vikings get a result, they will also get no worse than the fourth seed.
Sergio Manesio was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
• Fifteen of Cleveland State's 18 goals this year have come in the second half. In fact, seven of CSU's goals have come in the 78th minute or later.
• Cleveland State has been one of the most disciplined teams in the Horizon League in 2016. It has accrued the fewest yellow cards overall and committed the second fewest number of fouls.
• A total of eight newcomers, five freshmen and three transfers, have competed for CSU this year. All eight have started at least once, and two (Vlad Jandric & Noah Pio) have played in each of the first 16 matches.
• Entering this week, freshman Sebastian Kalk leads the Horizon League in save percentage (.847) and goals against average (0.86). Kalk is eighth in Division I in save percentage and second among only freshmen.
• Cleveland State enters this week having allowed only 17 goals in its past 24 matches dating back to last season.
• CSU's victory over Oakland was its third straight win in home matches. The last time the Vikings won three straight home matches in a season was 2012, the same year of their last NCAA Tournament appearance.
Antonio Burgoa has played a team-leading 1,304 minutes this season.
