Vikings Drop Final Exhibition at Rainy Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pa. – The Cleveland State University men's soccer team played its final exhibition match of the preseason Sunday and dropped a 3-0 decision to Saint Francis (Pa.) at a rainy Stokes SoccerPlex.

The match was the second and final exhibition for CSU, as it tied FC Cincinnati, 1-1, earlier this past week.

SFU pulled ahead in the 13th minute when a through ball was played to Stefan Sjekloca and he slotted it into the lower right corner. Saint Francis kept its 1-0 advantage into halftime as it held a 7-3 advantage in shots in the first half. Senior Aleksandar Drobac started in goal for the Vikings and made four saves over the first 45 minutes.

Saint Francis would double its lead fewer than four minutes into the second half on an unassisted tally by Troye Kiernan. The Red Flash put the game out of reach when Pedro Neto tapped in a goal after a header redirected a corner kick by a teammate.

Freshman Sebastian Kalk played the second 45 minutes in net for CSU and tallied a pair of stops.

Senior Sergio Manesio was the only Viking to play all 90 minutes Sunday as eight substitutes saw action for CSU. Five Vikings posted shots in the game.

Cleveland State will open the regular season at home this Friday at 7:00 p.m. against Dayton, who is receiving votes in the national poll.
