Ryan Haigh Drafted by the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League

Cleveland State University attackman, Ryan Haigh, was drafted by the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League. Haigh was the 72nd overall pick on the evening, becoming the second player to be selected under head coach Andy German.

Haigh joins the same squad that drafted current graduate assistant coach Tristan Hanna during the 2021 draft.

"It's a tremendous honor for Ryan and we could not be more proud and more excited for him," said coach German. "It's a testament to his work here but also the career he had with the Mimico organization. There are very few things as satisfying as seeing one of your players' dreams come true, so seeing his name as part of the New York Riptide was a bit surreal. His focus now is on finishing up his degree and making his final year at CSU a memorable one, but there's more lacrosse in his future and we can't wait to see him represent not just the Riptide but also the Vikings in the NLL."

Haigh retains his collegiate eligibility and will compete for the Vikings during the 2023 season.

The Toronto, Ontario native has played in 31 career games during his four-year career with the Green and White. In that span, he has put up 48 goals and six assists for 54 points, while also picking up 16 ground balls. This past season, he set the program record for single-season goals with 32.

"It was a childhood dream come true on being drafted," said Haigh. "I grew up idolizing the NLL guys in Toronto, and I have now been given the chance to be one. I could not be happier. #RollTide"

The New York Riptide was founded in 2019 and will be entering its third season in December. The team plays its games at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.
