Cleveland State Lacrosse Cruises Past Hampton, 19-6

HAMPTON, Va. – Cleveland State got back into the win column on Saturday afternoon with a 19-6 victory over Hampton on the road. The Vikings will return home on Saturday, March 26 at noon for Senior and Alumni Day.

Cleveland State took the early lead at the 13:41 mark as Derek Radke found the back of the net. Adam Clark then doubled the advantage with an unassisted goal of his own with 11:01 showing on the clock.

Back-to-back goals by Ryan Haigh elevated the margin to 4-0 with 6:36 to go in the first quarter. Jacob Lubrant capped off the opening quarter by scoring off a pass from Jason Sullivan to lead 5-0.

The Vikings rattled off the first three goals of the second quarter before Hampton got on the board with 10:58 remaining to trail 8-1. After trading goals, Cleveland State closed the half with three unanswered goals to lead 13-2 at the intermission.

Gavin Held opened the new half with an unassisted goal at the 13:22 mark as the Green and White led 14-2. The Pirates came right back with two straight goals but tallies from Brendan Sigurdson and Andrew Boniface made it 16-4 in favor of Cleveland State with one quarter to play.

Cleveland State outscored the home team 3-2 in the final quarter to come away with the 19-6 victory.

R. Haigh led the offense with five goals while Clark, Held, and Boniface finished with two goals apiece. Sullivan and Alex Van Voorhis each had two assists.

Cameron Logan picked up the win in the cage after making six saves.

Cleveland State will return to Krenzler Field on Saturday, March 26 at noon against VMI. The game will be the final non-conference game of the regular season.
