Sheridan Named to USILA Board of Directors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University head lacrosse coach Dylan Sheridan was appointed to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Board of Directors in a recent announcement made by USILA President Gene McCabe.

Sheridan, who was one of four additions named in this announcement, becomes the lone Division I coach on the USILA Board of Directors.

"I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve on the board and look forward to assisting the USILA to continue its mission to reward the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes," Sheridan said. "I'm excited to play a small role in helping recognize the outstanding achievements—on the field, in the classroom and in the community—of our teams and players."

Along with Sheridan, three other individuals were named to the Board of Directors: Skip Lichtfuss, a U.S. Lacrosse Hall of Famer who was an All-American player at Washington & Lee; Stacie Michaud, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information at the United States Naval Academy; and Brad Wachler, the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics at Lindenwood University.

Sheridan was named the inaugural head coach of the Cleveland State men's lacrosse program in June of 2015 where he has guided the Vikings into the Division I ranks over the last two seasons. Utilizing a roster composed almost entirely of true freshmen, Sheridan led the Vikings to five wins in their inaugural season. CSU faced one of the toughest schedules in the nation despite being a first-year program, as the Viking sat among the NCAA's top-five toughest schedules at the end of the regular season.

Sheridan started the CSU program after coaching stints at Princeton (2015) and Denver (2011-14), serving as defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at his stops with both the Tigers and Pioneers. A 2006 graduate of Claremont McKenna, Sheridan was a three-year team captain and was named a Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association All-American three times and the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Year his senior year. He went on to play professionally for the Denver Outlaws.

The USILA has selected All-America teams for decades and started the USILA Scholar All-America Program in the 1980s. The organization also sponsors national polls and annual senior all-star games at all NCAA divisions.

The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) is an organization comprised of member colleges and universities which sponsor intercollegiate lacrosse for men. It was founded in 1885. The Association is entrusted to enhance and develop intercollegiate lacrosse by providing leadership, management and services to its membership so that student-athletes, coaches and other constituent groups will realize the maximum benefit from the sport of lacrosse.
