Cleveland State Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth in Season Opening Tournament

Huntington, WV-The Cleveland State men's golf team wrapped up the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational with a ninth-place team finish at 8-over par for the three-round event. The Vikings improved two spots from a year ago after placing 11th in last year's tournament. 

Brody Simms posted a strong finish and was the only Viking in red figures in the final round. Simms finished with a 2-under 69 to finish in a tie for 17th at 2-under for the tournament. His round included back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 for a 1-under 34 on the back nine. 

Andrew Kaye also finished at 2-under for the tournament and T-17 overall. Kaye closed with a 2-over 73 in the final round. He registered an eagle 3 on the par-5 first hole, his third eagle of the tournament. Kaye was the only player in the field to finish with three eagles in the 54-hole event. 

Mason Frazier carded a final round 76 to finish at 6-over for the tournament. Frazier registered a T-45 finish in the opening event of the season. Freshman Dillon Pendergast, making his collegiate debut, was close behind finishing at 7-over. Pendergast finished tied for 49th

Ben Scheeff, also making his collegiate debut, closed with a 77 to finish at 13-over par in a tie for 68th

Dominik Cosic saw his first action, playing as an individual. Cosic closed with an even par round of 71 to finish at 11-over in a tie for 62nd

The Vikings compete again in two weeks at the Virtues Intercollegiate hosted by Miami(OH) scheduled for September 25-26, before returning home to host the Tom Tontimonia Invitational the first week of October.
