Cleveland State Men’s Golf Takes Runner Up at Wright State Invitational

Springboro, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team finished out the regular season strong taking second place at the Wright State Invitational. The Vikings finished with a 48-over par total of 900 strokes for the three-round event finishing only behind host Wright State who won the event at 30-over par. 

Multiple Vikings posted top-10 finishes and five of the six players in the lineup finished inside the top-20 and ties. 

Andrew Kaye led the way finishing tied for 5th posting an 11-over par total. Kaye closed with a 2-over 73 in the final round. He posted a front nine 34 which included a birdie and a hole out eagle on the par-4 sixth hole. 

Gunnar McCollins finished in ninth place at 13-over par. McCollins posted an 80 in the final round that did include four birdies. 

Brody Simms was close behind finishing at 15-over for the tournament in a tie for 11th place. Simms closed with a 4-over 75 that also included four birdies throughout the day. 

David Laib and Jack Hanus each finished in a tie for 20th place at 18-over. Laib shot 76 in the final round, while Hanus closed with an 82. 

Rounding out the lineup, Alex Anderson finished tied for 31st at 21-over par. Anderson also shot 80 in the final round. 

The Vikings wrap up the 2022-23 regular season with their highest team finish of the season. Cleveland State will now prepare for the Horizon League Championship tournament starting Sunday in Orlando, FL.
