Cleveland State Men’s Golf Secures Fourth Place Finish at Butler Spring Invitational

Indianapolis, IN-The Cleveland State men's golf team wrapped up a successful two days at the Butler Spring Invitational. The Vikings finished fourth as a team with a three-day total of 854 for a 14-over par team score. Ball State won the event with a score of 22-under par. 

Jack Hanus finished at 1-over par for the tournament, closing with a round of 71 to finish in a tie for 11th place. Hanus shot the low nine-hole score of the day for the Vikings with a 34 on the front side. He carded three birdies in a five-hole stretch on holes three through seven to finish in red figures. 

Andrew Kaye shot an even par round of 70 balancing two birdies and two bogeys to finish at 3-over. Kaye ended the tournament in a tie for 18th place. 

Gunnar McCollins and David Laib each recorded top-40 finishes. McCollins finished at 6-over in a tie for 34th after carding a 73 in the final round. Laib finished a shot behind at 7-over par after a closing 76. 

Brody Simms finished his tournament with a 78 in the final round to finish at 11-over through three rounds. Simms finished in a tie for 51st place. 

Alex Anderson recorded a 1-over score of 71 in the third round to finish the tournament at 3-over playing as an individual. Mason Frazier and Jonny Filler also competed as individuals, Frazier finished at 16-over in a tie for 66th place, and Filler finished tied for 85th with a 26-over par total for the three rounds. 

The Vikings are off next week before returning to competition at the Jewell Invitational in Batavia, OH scheduled for April 10-11.
