Vikings finish 12th in Tom Tontimonia Invitational

Westlake, OH-The Cleveland State men's golf team finished 12th in the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, hosted by CSU at Lakewood Country Club.

Cleveland State shot its lowest round of the tournament in the third and final round, posting a 7-over par 291. The Vikings finished with a three day total of 894(+45). Oakland won the team competition, finishing at 11-over 863, narrowly edging out second place Butler, who finished 13 over.  

Freshman Brody Simms led the way individually for CSU, finishing in a tie for 22nd place at 6-over par. Simms closed with a 1-over 72, his lowest score of the tournament. Gunnar McCollins, competing unattached, also closed with 72, and finished in a tie for 39th place at 10 over. David Laib had the low round of the day for the Vikings, closing with a 1-under 70 to move up 22 spots into a tie for 44th. Laib made three birdies in a row on holes six through eight to finish the front nine under par.

Other Viking competitors include Andrew Kaye(T-44, +13), Jack Hanus(T-52, +15), and Alex Anderson(T-52, +15). Mason Frazier(T-58, +16) and Jonny Filler(T-66, +19) competed unattached.

The Vikings next travel to Dayton to compete in the Dayton Flyer Invitational October 17th and 18th. This marks the final tournament of the fall season.
